Lumosity does not have any pop-up ads within our site. If you are seeing pop-up ads when you play Lumosity games, they may be coming from another website or program. Here are a some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Disable pop-ups in your browser
Click on your browser below for instructions.
- Click the menu in the top right corner and select Settings.
- Click on Advanced at the bottom.
- Under Privacy and security, click on Content Settings.
- Click Pop-ups, then select toggle to Blocked. (You can add exceptions by clicking Add.)
- Click on the menu in the top right corner and select Options or Preferences (Mac).
- Select the Content tab.
- Make sure that Block pop-up windows is checked.
- Click the Safari menu and select Preferences.
- Click on the Security tab and make sure that Block pop-up windows is checked.
- Click on the gear icon to the right of the address bar and then select Internet Options.
- Select the Privacy tab.
- Make sure that Pop-up Blocker is checked.
- Click on the menu (...) in the top-right of the browser.
- Click Settings and the select View Advanced Settings.
- Make sure that Block Pop-ups is toggled to the On position.
- Press "..." again to close the menu.
- Close and reopen your browser.
Disable extensions on your browser
Click on your browser below for instructions.
- Click the menu in the top right corner
- Select New Incognito Window. This will open a new browser window. Navigate to Lumosity.com log into your account to train. More detailed instruction can be found here.
- Click the menu (≡) in the top right corner, and then click the help icon (?) at the bottom of the menu.
- Select Restart with Add-ons Disabled and click Restart.
- Click Start in Safe Mode.
- Navigate to Lumosity.com and log into your account to train.

- Go to the Safari menu and choose Preferences.
- Click on the Extensions tab and try clicking on each extension and unchecking the box to enable or disable the extension, and then reload the page to see if the problem is resolved. You can also move the slider to the OFF position to disable all extensions on some older versions of Safari.
- Select the gear icon in the top right corner, hover over Safety, and click InPrivate Browsing, or press Ctrl+Shift+P at the same time. You can also right click the Internet Explorer icon and select Start InPrivate Browsing.
- In the new window that is launched, navigate to Lumosity.com and log into your account to train.
- Click the menu in the top right corner (...) and select New InPrivate Window.
- In the new window that is launched, navigate to Lumosity.com and log into your account to train.
If these steps did not resolve the issue, it is possible that there is malicious software (malware) installed on your computer. Since these programs are often installed without your permission, it can be difficult to find and remove the malware. If you are having trouble removing the ads, you may want to consult a computer technician for further assistance.
